What it covers

Every deed poll we draft: adult, child and replacement. It applies to the deed itself, correctly signed and witnessed, presented to a UK organisation as evidence of your change of name.

Accepted, or your money back. The refund is the full price of the deed poll, and we chase the refusal first, because a deed that is accepted is worth more to you than a refund.

How to claim

Tell us in writing which organisation refused the deed and what it said, with anything it sent you.
We take it up with the organisation. In our experience a refusal is usually a member of staff unsure of the document, and it is resolved once the organisation's own policy, or GOV.UK's guidance, is pointed out.
If it is still refused, we refund the price of the deed poll in full.

Why our deeds are accepted

The wording is the standard form UK organisations recognise, drafted by a paralegal and checked by a second person.
It is printed on certificate paper with space for two witnesses, and the signing guide keeps the execution right first time.
HM Passport Office's own guidance says an unenrolled deed poll must be accepted if it is signed in both names, witnessed, in wet ink and dated. Is an unenrolled deed poll legally binding?

What no guarantee can cover

A deed that has not been signed and witnessed correctly, or that has been altered after signing: how to sign and witness your deed poll.
Details that were typed wrongly at the checkout. Every deed is drafted to what you entered, so check the confirmation email as soon as it arrives.
A child's deed poll where someone with parental responsibility did not in fact agree.
An organisation outside the UK, whose own law decides what it accepts: using a UK deed poll abroad.

Questions people ask

What counts as a refusal?

An organisation in the UK declining, in writing or in person, to change your name on its records on the strength of a deed poll we drafted that has been correctly signed and witnessed.

How quickly do you act?

Tell us and a paralegal takes it up with the organisation, usually the same working day. Most refusals are resolved by pointing the organisation to its own published policy or to GOV.UK's guidance.

What is refunded?

The price of the deed poll. Certified copies, delivery and the other options are not refunded, because they were provided.

Does the guarantee cover organisations abroad?

No. A UK deed poll is evidence of a change of name under UK law; what another country accepts is decided by its own law. Using a UK deed poll abroad explains notaries and apostilles.

Does it cover a deed I signed wrongly?

No, because the deed is refused for the signing, not the drafting. Tell us before you correct anything: an altered deed can be refused, and a paralegal will say what to do.
