Who wrote this comparison. Deed Polls Online and DeedPolls.org are one business with two websites, the same service and the same price, and we list ourselves first. The other providers follow in the order they appeared most often in Google's UK results for six searches on 23 October 2026. Every fact about another provider comes from its own website on that date, in its own words where the wording matters. We have left out logos and links to other providers' websites; each is named with its web address so you can find it.
The deed poll services compared#
The nine services below each draft a deed poll from your details, print it and post it to you. The price that matters is the delivered one, because some include postage and some add it at the checkout; the "Delivered, from" column adds the cheapest postage each one offers for an adult deed poll. Do-it-yourself options#
A deed poll does not have to be drafted by anyone. GOV.UK publishes the wording for an adult's deed poll free; a template or an emailed deed puts that wording into a document for you to complete, print and sign. What is the same whichever you choose#
The legal effect. A deed poll is binding because of how it is signed, as a deed in front of a witness, not because of who drafted it or what it cost (is a deed poll legally binding?). HM Passport Office's guidance to its staff says an unenrolled deed poll, including one done online, must be accepted as evidence of a change of name if it is signed in both names, witnessed by at least one person, signed in wet ink and dated.

How to choose between them#
Five questions separate the services more than anything else on their home pages.
- What will I pay, delivered? Compare the "Delivered, from" column, then add anything you will need: certified copies or extra originals, faster post, a child's deed poll.
- Who drafts and checks it? Some name paralegals and a second check; some say only that the deed is prepared. A mistake in a name means a new deed, signed and witnessed again (what to do about a mistake on a deed poll).
- When is it posted? "The same working day" and "within four working days" are different promises, and some depend on a cut-off time or a paid upgrade.
- What does the guarantee refund? An acceptance guarantee refunds you if an organisation refuses the deed. Read what it refunds (the whole order, or the document fee only), what it excludes and how long it lasts. A satisfaction refund or a reprint for the provider's own errors is a different promise.
- Does anything renew? A storage or archive service that renews by the month or the year is optional. Check how it is cancelled before you agree: deed poll monthly charges.

How we compiled this comparison#
- Which providers. We searched Google UK on 23 October 2026 for six phrases: "deed poll", "deed poll uk", "change name by deed poll", "deed poll online", "change my name uk" and "best deed poll service uk", and recorded every deed poll seller in the organic results on pages one and two. Websites run by one business count once, as ours do. Providers are listed by the number of searches they appeared in, then by their best position. The two in last place appeared in one search each.
- What we recorded. Each provider's prices, postage, drafting, posting times, copies, guarantee and any recurring charges, from its own home, price, order and terms pages, quoted where the wording matters. Where its own pages say two different things, both are shown.
- Reviews. For each provider, the review platform it shows or links to on its own website, with the rating and the number of reviews as that platform showed them on the day. Where a provider shows only reviews on its own site, that is what we say. For our own service the figure is Reviews.co.uk's, updated whenever this page is built.
- What we left out. Free generators that sell nothing, solicitors' firms, and providers that did not appear in the twelve pages of results.
- Evidence. We keep a dated copy of every page we relied on.
- Kept up to date. We re-check every figure every three months and whenever a provider tells us something has changed, and the date at the top of each entry is the day it was last checked.

Questions people ask
Which deed poll service is the best?
None is official, and none makes a deed poll more valid than another: it is your signature in front of your witnesses that makes it binding. The best one for you depends on what you weigh most: the delivered price, how quickly it is posted, what the guarantee refunds, and whether anything renews. The tables above set those side by side.
Is a cheaper deed poll less likely to be accepted?
Not because of its price. HM Passport Office's guidance says an unenrolled deed poll must be accepted if it is signed in the old and new names, witnessed, signed in wet ink and dated. A deed that meets those tests is accepted whoever drafted it and whatever it cost.
Are any of these companies official?
No. Each is a private business, whatever its name. The only official deed poll office is the High Court's, which enrols deed polls for £53.05: is there an official UK deed poll office?
Why are ratings from different review sites?
Because providers use different platforms, and we show the one each provider displays on its own website, with the figure as that platform showed it on the day we checked. Platforms collect and count reviews in different ways, so a rating on one is not directly comparable with a rating on another.
Why is your own service listed first?
Because it is ours, and we say so at the top of the page. The others follow in the order they appeared most often in Google's UK results for six deed poll searches, which is a measure of how often people see them, not of quality.
Do any deed poll companies charge every month?
